Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 3 (15-ounce) cans baked beans, drained
  • 1 cup chopped onion

Seasonings and Sauces

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat and set the beef aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Bacon: Cook the bacon slices until crispy, either in the oven or in a skillet. Once cooled, crumble or chop the bacon into small pieces for easy mixing.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl or directly in your slow cooker, mix together the drained baked beans, cooked ground beef, crumbled bacon, chopped onion, sugar, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, and vinegar until everything is well combined.
  4. Choose Cooking Method: You can cook this dish three different ways:
    a) Slow Cooker: Cook on high for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, or on low for 2-3 hours.
    b) Stovetop: Simmer the bean mixture in a saucepan over medium-low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
    c) Oven: Pour the mixture into a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and the top to caramelize slightly.

Notes

  • Leftover baked beans with beef and bacon can be refrigerated for up to 5 days.
  • Enjoy leftovers cold or reheat in the microwave or oven for best taste.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a dash of smoked paprika or hot sauce before cooking.
  • Ensure to stir occasionally during cooking to prevent sticking and promote even heating.
