Pizza Rolls
- 8 soft taco size flour tortillas
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 6 ounces package of full-size sliced pepperoni (approx. 80 slices; you will need 10 slices per pizza roll)
- 8 string cheese sticks, room temperature
- 2–3 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- Prepare Tortillas: Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce at the bottom of each flour tortilla, leaving a ¼ inch border around the edge.
- Add Pepperoni: Arrange 10 slices of pepperoni evenly on top of the pizza sauce on each tortilla.
- Add Cheese: Lay one whole string cheese stick on top of the pepperoni layer on each tortilla.
- Roll Up: Carefully and tightly roll each tortilla up with the filling inside, then place them seam side down. Repeat for all tortillas to form the rolls.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Remove the basket from your air fryer, lightly spray it with nonstick cooking spray, leave the basket out, and preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-4 minutes.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Use a pastry brush to lightly coat the tops of each pizza roll with extra virgin olive oil for a crispy finish.
- Cook: Place 3-4 pizza rolls at a time into the air fryer basket, ensuring they have space between them. Cook at 375°F for 9-10 minutes or until the tortilla is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Remove from the air fryer and serve the pizza rolls warm for the best melty experience.
Notes
- Storage: Store leftover pizza rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Freezing: Freeze uncooked pizza rolls for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before air frying.
- Tortilla Tip: If tortillas are cold or stiff, microwave them for 20-25 seconds to make them more pliable and easier to roll.
- Cheese Tip: Use string cheese at room temperature for a meltier texture, but cold strings work as well.
- Oil Substitution: You can substitute vegetable oil for olive oil if preferred. Avoid using butter for brushing as it may burn during air frying.
