Meats
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups cooked chicken, chopped or shredded
Seasoning & Sauces
- 1 jar (8 ounces) salsa
- 3 tablespoons Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix (or one taco seasoning packet)
- ¼ cup water
- ⅓ cup Best Guacamole Recipe
- ⅓ cup sour cream
- ⅓ cup taco sauce (or salsa)
Cheese & Vegetables
- 1 – 2 cups Mexican blend cheese, shredded
- 3 – 5 small colorful peppers
- 10 – 12 cherry tomatoes, diced
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
Shells
- 8 hard shells
- 8 soft shells
- Brown the ground beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef until fully cooked, draining any excess fat if necessary.
- Season the meat: Add 3 tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning and ¼ cup water to the browned beef. Stir to combine and then add half of the salsa jar (about 4 ounces). Mix well.
- Simmer the meat mixture: Let the seasoned beef simmer gently for about 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld, stirring occasionally. Use this time to chop any additional ingredients and prepare serving bowls.
- Prepare the serving board: Spoon the meat mixture into a serving bowl and place it in the center of your charcuterie tray. Arrange the hard and soft taco shells on opposite sides of the tray.
- Add toppings: Place the cooked shredded chicken, Mexican cheese blend, chopped colorful peppers, diced cherry tomatoes, shredded lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, and taco sauce in small bowls or sections around the shells and meat bowl on the tray.
- Serve and enjoy: Include serving utensils, and let everyone build their own tacos by choosing their desired toppings from the spread.
