Ingredients

Scale

Spaghetti Base

  • cooking spray
  • 1 (8 ounce) package spaghetti, broken into 2-inch pieces
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt

Toppings

  • 1 (16 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • 4 ounces pepperoni sausage, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray a 9-inch round baking pan or pizza pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook and prepare spaghetti: Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and transfer into a large mixing bowl. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Mix spaghetti base: Add 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, milk, beaten egg, salt, and garlic salt to the cooked spaghetti. Mix well until all ingredients are combined evenly.
  4. Form spaghetti crust: Press the spaghetti mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan to form a solid crust layer. Use the back of a spoon or your hands to pack it down firmly.
  5. Bake the crust: Place the pan in the oven and bake the spaghetti crust for about 20 minutes, until it is set and slightly golden around the edges.
  6. Add toppings: Remove the crust from the oven. Spread the spaghetti sauce evenly over the crust, then sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on top. Distribute the sliced pepperoni evenly and sprinkle oregano and basil over the pizza.
  7. Final bake: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the pepperoni is slightly crisp.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy your creative spaghetti pizza!

Notes

  • For best results, break the spaghetti into uniform 2-inch pieces before cooking so the crust holds together well.
  • You can substitute pepperoni with any other favorite pizza toppings or vegetables.
  • Use part-skim mozzarella if you want to reduce fat content.
  • This dish is best served fresh but can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • Be careful not to overcook the spaghetti to avoid mushy crust formation.
