Tea
- 4 black tea bags
- 6 cups boiling water
Peach Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 medium ripe peaches, pitted and diced
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
To Serve
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Peach slices for garnish
- Brew the Tea: Place the 4 black tea bags into 6 cups of boiling water. Allow the tea to steep for about 5-7 minutes until fully brewed and rich in color. Remove the tea bags and set the brewed tea aside to cool.
- Make the Peach Syrup: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and the diced peaches. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes so the peaches release their flavor.
- Strain the Syrup: Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the peach syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove peach solids, pressing gently to extract the maximum flavor. Discard the solids and allow the syrup to cool.
- Combine Tea and Syrup: In a large pitcher, mix the cooled brewed tea with the peach syrup. Stir in 1/4 cup lemon juice to provide a subtle tartness that balances the sweetness.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the peach tea until thoroughly chilled. Serve the tea over plenty of ice cubes, garnished with fresh mint leaves and peach slices for an inviting presentation and enhanced flavor.
Notes
- Adjust sugar quantity to taste for a less or more sweet tea.
- Use fresh ripe peaches for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
- Tea can be brewed stronger or weaker depending on preference.
- This tea is best served cold and consumed within 2-3 days.
- For a sparkling version, add soda water before serving.
