Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 300 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 100 g butter, chopped
  • 200 g Cadbury Peppermint chocolate
  • 250 g plain sweet biscuits, crushed (such as Arnott’s Marie brand)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 drops peppermint extract

Topping

  • 250 g milk chocolate, melted
  • 5 candy canes, roughly chopped
  • 1 cup red & green M&Ms

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: In a saucepan over low heat, gently melt the chopped butter, sweetened condensed milk, and Cadbury Peppermint chocolate together, stirring constantly until smooth and fully combined.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed sweet biscuits and cocoa powder. Add the peppermint extract and pour the melted chocolate mixture over the dry ingredients. Stir well to create a uniform chocolate biscuit mixture.
  3. Press mixture into pan: Line a rectangular slice pan with baking paper. Press the chocolate biscuit mixture firmly and evenly into the prepared pan, ensuring an even layer.
  4. Cool the base: Place the pan in the refrigerator for about 1 hour or until the base is firm and set.
  5. Add the topping: Once the base is firm, spread the melted milk chocolate evenly over the top.
  6. Decorate: Immediately sprinkle the roughly chopped candy canes and red & green M&Ms over the melted chocolate topping to decorate.
  7. Set the slice: Return the slice to the refrigerator for another 1-2 hours or until the chocolate topping has fully set and is firm to the touch.
  8. Serve: Remove from the fridge, cut into squares, and serve chilled for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the mixture is pressed firmly to avoid crumbly slices.
  • If peppermint extract is not available, peppermint essence or oil can be used sparingly.
  • Store the slice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • For a nuttier version, consider adding chopped nuts to the base mixture.
  • Make sure to cool the base thoroughly before adding the chocolate topping to prevent melting or mixing.
