Ingredients

Scale

Truffle Base

  • 3 cups Oreo cookies, finely crushed
  • 8 oz block cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Coating and Decoration

  • 1½ cups green melting wafers
  • 1½ cups red melting wafers
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco
  • 1820 miniature Reese’s Cups
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • 23 sticks licorice or red vine candy, cut into ½ inch pieces

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oreo Truffle Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the finely crushed Oreo cookies, softened cream cheese, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until a smooth, uniform mixture forms.
  2. Shape Truffles: Using your hands or a small scoop, shape the mixture into small, bite-sized balls and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill the truffles in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  3. Melt Candy Coating: In two separate microwave-safe bowls, melt green and red melting wafers respectively, adding 1 tablespoon of Crisco to each bowl to achieve a smooth, glossy coating. Stir every 30 seconds until fully melted and combined.
  4. Coat Truffles: Dip each chilled truffle into the melted candy coating using a fork or toothpick, allowing excess coating to drip off before placing it back onto parchment paper.
  5. Decorate: While the coating is still wet, decorate the truffles by placing miniature Reese’s Cups on top, sprinkling with Christmas sprinkles, and attaching licorice or red vine candy pieces as desired to create festive shapes and designs.
  6. Set and Serve: Allow the coated and decorated truffles to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened to ensure a smooth mixture.
  • Using Crisco helps the candy melts achieve a shiny, smooth consistency.
  • Chilling the truffles before dipping prevents them from falling apart.
  • Store finished truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • You can substitute the Reese’s Cups with other miniature candies if preferred.
