Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 (6 oz each) salmon filets
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
  • 1/4 tsp blackening seasoning (optional)

Sauce

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Pat the salmon filets dry with paper towels. Season both sides of each filet evenly with kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and optionally blackening seasoning for an extra smoky kick.
  2. Sear the Salmon: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Place the salmon filets skin-side down in the hot skillet and cook without moving for about 4-5 minutes until the skin is crisp and the salmon is cooked about halfway through. Carefully flip each filet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is almost cooked through.
  3. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low, then add butter to the skillet. Once melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned. Stir in honey, water, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, and lemon juice. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to a glossy glaze.
  4. Glaze the Salmon: Spoon the sauce over the salmon filets, coating them well. Allow them to cook in the sauce for another minute or two so the glaze adheres perfectly and the flavors meld together.
  5. Serve: Remove the salmon from the skillet and plate. Drizzle any remaining glaze from the pan over the top. Serve immediately, ideally with steamed vegetables or rice to soak up the delicious sauce.

Notes

  • For a less spicy version, reduce or omit the sriracha sauce.
  • If you prefer, you can broil the salmon instead of pan-searing, just brush with sauce near the end to glaze.
  • Blackening seasoning is optional but adds a nice smoky depth to the salmon.
  • Be careful not to overcook the salmon; it should be moist and flaky.
  • If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of water to loosen it up.
