Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 1 red apple, rinsed, cored, and cut into ⅛-¼ inch thick slices (Pink Lady, Honey Crisp, or Gala variety)
  • 1 navel orange, rinsed and cut into ¼ inch thick rounds, then sliced in half
  • ½ cup whole cranberries

Liquids and Spirits

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 3 cups (750 ml bottle) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1 cup Fireball cinnamon flavored whiskey
  • ¾ cup ginger ale, chilled

Spices and Others

  • 3 whole cinnamon sticks (food grade)
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Rinse the red apple and navel orange thoroughly. Core the apple and slice it into thin ⅛-¼ inch thick slices. Slice the orange into thin rounds about the same thickness, then cut those rounds in half to create manageable pieces for the sangria. Gather the whole cranberries.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, add the sliced apples, orange halves, whole cranberries, and cinnamon sticks. Pour in 4 cups of apple cider followed by 3 cups of dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc). Then add 1 cup of Fireball cinnamon flavored whiskey to bring the warming spice element to the sangria.
  3. Chill the Sangria: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate the sangria mixture for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and deepen.
  4. Add Ginger Ale and Serve: When ready to serve, stir in ¾ cup of chilled ginger ale to add a sparkling, refreshing finish. Serve the sangria over ice in individual glasses, making sure to include some fruit slices and a cinnamon stick for garnish if desired.

Notes

  • For best flavor, allow the sangria to chill overnight before serving so the fruit and spices infuse well.
  • Use a dry white wine such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc for a crisp, balanced taste.
  • Adjust the amount of Fireball whiskey based on desired spiciness.
  • The ginger ale adds sweetness and fizz; you can substitute with club soda for a less sweet option.
  • This sangria is best served cold over ice.
  • Use food-grade cinnamon sticks to avoid any bitterness.
  • Keep the cranberries whole for an attractive garnish and slight tartness.
