Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 lbs. ground beef, lean
  • 3 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 2 15 oz cans petite diced tomatoes
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 2 cups macaroni noodles, uncooked
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Sauté Vegetables and Beef: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add diced onion, green bell pepper, and ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned and no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat from the pot and return it to the stove.
  2. Add Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, making sure not to burn it.
  3. Add Liquids and Seasonings: Pour in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and beef broth. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and uncooked macaroni noodles.
  4. Simmer Until Pasta is Tender: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to maintain a gentle boil. Stir occasionally as the pasta cooks and absorbs the flavors, about 20 minutes, until noodles are tender.
  5. Finish and Serve: Remove and discard the bay leaves. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined. Serve hot and enjoy your hearty goulash!
