Cereals and Snacks
- 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
- 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
- 2 cups Bugles brand snack chips
- 2 cups sourdough pretzel nibblers (Snyder’s of Hanover brand)
Toppings and Coatings
- 10 ounce bag white chocolate candy melts (Ghirardelli brand used)
- 1¼ cups mini M&M’s candies (Christmas red and green variety)
- 22 Starlight peppermint candies, unwrapped and finely crushed (about ½ cup)
- 2 tablespoons nonpareil sprinkles (red, white, and green holiday blend), plus additional for optional garnish
- Prepare Dry Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, Bugles, and sourdough pretzel nibblers. Gently mix to evenly distribute all components.
- Melt White Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to overheat.
- Combine Chocolate and Mix: Pour the melted white chocolate over the dry mixture and use a spatula to gently fold and coat everything evenly, making sure all pieces are covered.
- Add Candies and Peppermint: While the mixture is still coated, sprinkle in the mini M&Ms, crushed Starlight peppermint candies, and nonpareil sprinkles. Gently fold to evenly distribute the candies and sprinkles throughout the mixture.
- Set and Cool: Spread the coated mix onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Optionally, sprinkle extra nonpareil sprinkles on top for garnish. Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature until the white chocolate hardens and the mix firms up, about 30-45 minutes.
- Store: Once set, break apart any clumps and transfer the Christmas Chex Mix into an airtight container to keep fresh. Store at room temperature for up to one week.
Notes
- Use white chocolate candy melts for easier melting and smoother coating.
- Be sure to crush the peppermint candies finely to avoid large chunks in the mix.
- You can substitute pretzels or chips with your favorite salty snacks for variety.
- Keep the mixture away from moisture to maintain crispness.
- This mix is great for gift bags or festive party bowls.
